BEAUTIFULLY INTIMATE 1970 BROADCAST RECORDING FROM A YOUTHFUL JT Five-time Grammy winner and among the best-selling music artists of all time, James Taylor arrived pretty much fully-formed in the late 1960s. His self-titled debut, released on the Beatles Apple label in 1968, served as a blueprint for the upcoming singer-songwriter generation, and his follow up Sweet Baby James, released just a few days after the club gig featured on this CD was performed, cemented his reputation which turned Taylor into the poster boy for the new sound. This concert, captured via FM radio broadcast on 5th February 1970, has superb audio quality and remains perhaps the finest recording available from this era of JT in concert. Featuring renditions of numbers from his first two LPs, plus a host of cuts that would appear on his third album, Mud Slide Slim & The Blue Horizon, released a year later, and a well-chosen array of covers, this CD will delight James Taylor fans universally as it reveals quite what a powerful yet tender live performer the great man was, even at a this early juncture in his ongoing, lengthy career.
