Pilot were a Scottish rock group formed in 1973 in Edinburgh by former "Bay City Rollers" David Paton and Billy Lyall. Pilot released 12 seven inch singles and four albums between 1973 and 1977. With Alan Parsons as producer Pilot had their first million seller with the single "Magic" followed a year later with an even bigger hit single called "January" (# 1 in both Australia and the United Kingdom). After 12 seven inch singles and 4 Pilot albums David Paton and Ian Bairnson joined Kate Bush in the studio with the recording of her first two albums "The Kick Inside" and "Lionheart" and in 1978 Pilot became "The Alan Parsons Project".
