FASCINATING REHEARSAL BROADCAST FROM 1969 In November 1968, the band entered the newly established studio Elektra Sound West on La Cienega Boulevard to commence work on The Soft Parade, a process that was not complete until June 1969. Without any album-ready material to work with, record producer Paul A. Rothchild took control of the sessions and insisted on numerous retakes of songs, much to the group's indignation. The album was by far the most expensive by the group, costing $80,000 to create, in contrast to the $10,000 for their debut. On February 25th 1969, the band members went into Sunset Recorders Studio for a one night rehearsal session. The entire proceedings were recorded and broadcast across local FM radio. For the first time this entire session is now available on CD.
