On their album Akephalos, named after a headless demon from ancient Greek mythology, fornication dares a successful, German-speaking bridge between dark rock, indie sounds and modern metal attacks. According to legend, an Akephalos is in many places a headless spirit who cannot come to rest. Luckily, fornication on their new album doesn't go headlessly to work at all, because each of the 11 songs succinctly gets to the point. But a certain restlessness is exactly what the songs get their very special energy from. More than ever before, the guys use a melting pot of different styles to bring their German-language rock hymns to life. From New-German-hardness and industrial hints in flesh and ruins to a melodic-hardcore foundation in projectile, from the first single Nela, which mixes modern metal salvos with alternative rock, to the indie-rock-meets-synth-pop epic Der schmale Grat - again and again fornication strike unexpected hooks with obvious joy and still manage to remain true to their melancholic-dark-breathed basic sound. Sometimes as hard as a board and full of the twelve, sometimes unabashedly emotional, fornication always steer their ship exactly where their hearts lead them. Carried by the familiar fiery voice of Der Schulz, the guys don't care much about genre clich?s and that's why they stand out from the crowd.
