El Piano Espanol. Under this motto, pianist Andreas M?hlen publishes a selection of exclusively Spanish and Spanish-inspired piano music, far removed from the mainstream concert programs. Singing and dancing, the basic elements of Spanish folk music, were adopted by de Falla, Alb?niz, Granados to unite them with the heritage of Spanish culture. Arabic, Moorish, Hebrew and Indian influences, handed down by the immigrant gypsies, combined with the piano style of Chopin and Liszt, result in a fascinating fusion of different musical styles. No wonder that composers from other countries were infected and inspired by this music. Whether in Valencia, Zurich, Hamburg or Kaliningrad, "El Piano Espa?ol" triggers spontaneous enthusiasm among the audience and sustained enquiries from organisers. Experience on this CD, live and directly captured, a concert program with the typical Spanish sense of rhythm and the "expressividad" of the lecture, which points far beyond the borders of Spain and Europe.
