"Audrey" is a tribute to two modern icons: firstly, of course, to Paul Desmond, the saxophonist of the legendary Dave Brubeck Quartet, after whom the jazz quartet around Lorenz Hargassner, Johann Wei?, Christian Flohr and Sebastian Deufel has named itself. And on the other hand to the great Audrey Hepburn, whose connection to Paul Desmond is very special here: imaginative and rather fictive - and brought to life by pure desmond, who have been a constant on the international jazz scene for over 15 years now. The original idea and inspiration of the quartet was Paul Desmonds wonderfully lyrical saxophone playing from the very beginning. In the further development of pure desmond, a fine, chamber-musically nuanced, transparent and very controlled sound has emerged, which at the same time seems incredibly effortless and relaxed
