Rarities, unpublished items, sensations: Opulent anthology dedicated to Strummer's career alongside The Clash. After Joe Strummer's death in 2002 it became clear that he was an avid collector of his works: countless writings, cassettes, demos, drawings... Joe's widow Lucinda Tait and the producer Robert Gordon McHarg III supervised the archiving of the 20,000 individual pieces and also provided the noble anthology "Joe Strummer 001", which is dedicated to Strummer's career alongside The Clash. The compilation is released as double CD and 4x vinyl box. "Joe Strummer 001" contains favorites of his two bands 101ers and The Mescaleros, soundtrack contributions like the unreleased title "Rose Of Erin" (1993) from "When Pigs Fly" with Marianne Faithful, collaborations (Jimmy Cliff, Johnny Cash), solo works and recordings that got dusty in the archive. For example, an early version of "This Is England" entitled "Czechoslovak Song/Where Is England", a solo demo of "Letsagetabitarockin" (1975), two outtakes from "Sid & Nancy", the 10-minute "U.S. North", recorded with clash colleague Mick Jones in 1985, and "London Is Burning", one of the last songs Strummer worked on before his death. All recordings remastered by Grammy winner Peter J. Moore at E. Room in Toronto
