French singer ?dith Piaf (1915-63), only 1.47 metres tall, became world-famous for her emotional and vocal interpretation of chansons and ballads. Piaf's career began on the streets of Paris, where she secured her first income as a 15-year-old - and was quickly discovered. Already in 1935 she recorded her first record. In the following years she made her breakthrough. Stage appearances throughout Europe and countless records were the result. Her career continued to progress during the Second World War. After 1945, Piaf made a name for himself through numerous partnerships and affairs. Despite numerous international successes such as "La vie en rose", "Milord" and "Non, je ne regrette rien", Piaf fell for alcohol. After a serious accident in 1959, which resulted in a long stage abstinence, she became morphine-dependent. In 1961 Piaf made a sensational comeback. On 10 October 1963 she died of severe cancer.
