A timeless collection of traditional songs from the north of Sweden, recorded in a trio. Lisa Lestander is known as one of the singers of the famous vocal quartet Kraja. During her studies of traditional Swedish singing at the Music Conservatory of Sweden in Falun and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, she noticed that no documentation of the songs of the northern provinces of Sweden existed. Four years after "S?nger fr?n Norr I" (2014) her intense research in the music archives of these regions brought forth a second selection of filigree arranged songs now. By her side are multi-instrumentalist Mats ?berg (synthesizer, harmonica) and Jonas Knutsson (saxophone), one of the leading folk, jazz and improvisations musician of Sweden, who uninhibitedly moves between different musical worlds. All three grew up in the historic Swedish province of V?sterbotten, which lies in the southern part of Lapland. Furthermore they are linked by the interest in traditional, almost forgotten sounds. So on this CD you will find hardly known Swedish folk songs, carried by Lestanders inviting vocals, which are sometimes lively and sometimes quiet, but always poetic and almost solemn.
