Black/Viking metal on dark silver vinyl. Starting as a solo project of vocalist/guitarist Shamgar, Slechtvalk was formed in 2000 when he wrote some songs for his debut album Falconry (2000). In the following months, Shamgar started the search for more band members, which resulted in the complete band being formed in 2001. Together the band members experimented to find their own sound and the Slechtvalk black-viking sound was born. This resulted in the second full-length album The War That Plagues The Lands (2002), which was the breakthrough for Slechtvalk into the European Black-metal scene. "The War That Plagues The Lands" reached #2 in the Dutch Lowlands Top 50 and stayed for weeks in the Top 10. After the release Slechtvalk toured Europe for the first time, performing in countries from Finland to Switzerland. Later on Slechtvalk supported bands such as Eluveitie, Manegarm, Endstille, Skyforger and Su?dakra and co-headlined the Dutch open air festival Occultfest.
