Larry 'Ratso' Sloman has worked with renowned artists such as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, John Cale and Leonard Cohen throughout his career and has written the biographies of Howard Stern, Anthony Kiedis and Mike Tyson. Now, at the age of 70, he releases his first musical work, for which he has been able to win over fellow artists such as Yasmine Hamdan, Warren Ellis, Sharon Robinson (Leonard Cohen's co-author and producer) and Imani Coppolla. The first single "Our Lady Of Night" is a duet with none other than Nick Cave(!), the album was produced by Vin Cacchione (Soft Black, Caged Animals) in Brooklyn. Musically Ratso, who got this nickname from Joan Baez because of his dishevelled appearance, offers classical songwriting with modern refinement. The album consists of eight originals (partly written together with John Cale) and a Bob Dylan cover, some of which have been waiting to see the light of day since 1984. "Stubborn Heart" deals autobiographically with different stages of a type who experienced the New York counterculture of the 1970s up close, only to reinvent himself 40 years later within Brooklyn's DIY limitations.
