Patience Soup presents the entirety of a live performance by the trio, consisting of Oren Ambarchi, Jim O'Rourke and Japanese underground legend Phew, which took place on November 4, 2015 at the Kitakyushu Performing Arts Center. Known to many listeners outside Japan for her early collaborations with Can members, Phew has experienced a creative renaissance in recent years, recording and releasing a work that dissolves the band arrangements of most of her previous releases to focus exclusively on her raw DIY electronics and obsessive vocal styles. "Patience Soup" is a perfect companion. The set, presented in atmospheric spatial fidelity, begins with a crisp textural abstraction and Phew's vocal side notes, set against the backdrop of Ambarchi's shimmering Leslie Cabinet guitar sounds and O'Rourke's synthetic tapes. Presented in a luxurious shell with breathtaking images of Traianos Pakioufakis and an inner shell with live images of Mike Kubeck.
