Vivaldi's (1678-1741) Concertos and Symphonies for Strings are not concertos for a soloist with orchestra, but rather a field of tension in which entire orchestral groups become independent in order to perform with others - in dialogue or in contrast, in harmony or as imitation; in short, they are concertos for "multiple soloists". The 40 concerts and symphonies are among the most popular works of the Venetian master.
