Turrini's 12 Sonatas for harpsichord are written in two movements, one fast and lively, the other calm and meditative. Although they are rooted in a sensitive style, they also go beyond the boundaries of this style. The harpsichordist Michele Barchi was the harpsichordist of Il Giardino Armonico, a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado, and is in great demand as a soloist.
