The new recording presents nine string quartets that were composed over a period of 15 years and serve as seismographs for his compositional activities. The quartets are partly single-movement, partly multi-movement and have an average length of six minutes. They offer captivating music, written by a brilliant spirit with an independent, humorous and warm-hearted personality.
