John Peel invited the UK punk institution to the studio several times in 1977 and 1978 and so it came to a record deal with the label GEM. The debut album reached number 21 in the English charts and there were also a number of hit singles. Each of them resulted in a TV appearance on 'Top Of The Pops'. All renowned music magazines reported about the band. They were also featured in Julien Temple's film documentary 'Punk Can Take It'. They appeared at the Glastonbury Festival and played their first extensive tour of England in 1979. In 1980 they accompanied the Ramones at gigs in Europe, on a small tour in the USA they appeared as support for The Police. UK Subs are still one of the English punk institutions, and one of the most long-lived. The 4CD box in the Deluxe book with 32-page booklet holds 120 (!) tracks that were A, B, C or D side of any single. From 'Warhead', 'Teenage', 'She's Not There', 'Riot 98', '666Yeah' to 'Predator'.
