The wild 7 from Tel Aviv presents her grandiose and truly unique third Klezmer Punk album "Catastrophic Life", which is hard to beat. For their third album, the Tel Aviv Jewish Monkeys have significantly rejuvenated themselves with some new band members and added fresh blood, polyphonic fans and shredding guitars to their own sovereign oldschool eccentricity. And so on "Catastrophic Life" they manage again and better than ever to fulfill their promise to be the most exciting klezmer punk combo of our time. The ten new songs show the new direction: Beside the fusion of Yiddish lane hits with ska rhythms there is also Afrobeat, Reggae, Funk-Licks, sometimes even Caribbean flair, wild guitars and also a tiny dose of Balkania. The result is an album that never becomes comfortable and complacent, but instead pushes forward with lyrics that are satirical, biting and sometimes painful, that criticize and never lack the necessary self-irony. "Catastrophic Life" has become a stroke of genius: taboo, weird, fast and courageous, moody and funny, melancholic and manic.
