HAMMERHAI is a jewel among the jewels," wrote Helge Schreiber about the Hanover showcase band, which has been regarded as pioneers of the German-language offbeat since 1997. Now, with their 6th album "Unterm Schnellweg", they are finally bringing themselves back on Rockers Records' map and into the ears of the professional world. After a four-year break between 2007 and 2011, the quintet is now on the road as a guitar band and with a new drummer. The audience had to wait 13 long years for a new record, but the wisdom "good thing wants to have time" also applies here. On "Unterm Schnellweg", HAMMERHAI offers a rich variety of punk rock, ska, reggae, hip hop, beat and metal, plus clever lyrics with brain and soul - HAMMERHAI have never made it easy for purists and pigeonholed thinkers. Guitarist MC Timsen, who recorded the band in a studio under a motorway bridge, is responsible for the crystal-clear and powerful production of the sound carrier. The characteristic vocals alternate between a sizzling grating voice, a pleasantly flirtatious narrative and powerful singalongs. The whole thing is completed vocally with beautiful backing vocals and catchy vocal parts. No matter if you're looking for a fast Ska-Punk-Klopper, fresh hybrids of dub rhythms with fat guitar walls, artistic metal miniatures or catchy beat numbers - HAMMERHAI sound powerful, authentic and at the same time completely relaxed. This record is rousing and it hails great songs with hooklines, melody arcs and lyrics that bite into your ears!
