Toi Et Moi play "Nouvelle Chanson" because they sing in French and combine modern and traditional songwriting elements. On their new album "N'Allume Pas Le Feu" they play sometimes puristically and elegantly as a duo, sometimes in a quartet with double bass and drums as a dance band or classically and sensually with a string ensemble. The two musicians from Cologne use their musical diversity and class and change line-up and style in a way that is best for the respective song. In doing so they always remain true to themselves and never lose their closeness and charm. Julia sings and plays different instruments like accordion, piano, singing saw and mandolin. She gives the songs an individual sound world through her musical diversity. Raphael is half-French and plays guitar, sings and has the greater part of the lyrics and composition of the songs.
