MONOCHROME SET, THE - Love Zombies (Sealed) (CD)

The flappy prose of pop history has usually left such patronizing compliments for The Monochrome Set as "could have been really big" or "influential", after all they have been quoted over the decades as role models by greats like Morrissey and Marr of the Smiths, Graham Coxon of Blur or Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand. 1980 saw the release of a strong debut album called "Strange Boutique" - including the song named after the band, whose pseudo-bush drum rhythm preceded Adam & The Ants' "Kings of the Wild Frontier" by months, and "Love Goes Down The Drain", which anticipated Johnny Marr's guitar style. In the same year the second album "Love Zombies" followed, which was preferred by some fans (but not by Bid himself), as imaginatively playful as it was crisply dynamic. These two first and rare works are now re-released on Tapete Records.
