BEE GEES TELEVISION BROADCAST FROM THE MID-1970s As disco gained popularity in the US from the mid-1970 s onwards, with artist such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Heatwave and Rose Royce achieving sizeable hits, the Gibb brothers decided to move to Miami, and from there hone their extraordinary craft in that direction. In 1975, The Bee Gees released Main Course, which included their second US No1, the infectious Jive Talking , as well as ever popular Nights on Broadway . Rolling Stone called it the best sounding Bee Gees album ever at the time, and it indeed opened the door for the siblings to be accepted into the genre, despite being three white boys from Manchester. Following the release of the record, the group began a five month tour across the USA and Canada, during which, on the last date of the US leg, they played the PBS TV show Soundstage , recorded in Chicago, IL on 11th July 75. Performing a set brimming with hits old and new, interspersed with band interviews, chat and a remarkable spot when the trio re-visits the songs they had performed in the late 1950s as youngsters in The Rattlesnakes, the show was an enormous success. This CD features the entirety of this performance alongside eight bonus cuts recorded in Melbourne the year before.
