The Kings of Frog Island are a Stoner/Psych-Rock project from Leicester, England. The band was formed in 2003 by Mat Bethancourt (Josiah, Cherry Choke) with Mark Buteux and Roger "Dodge" Watson (Scum Pups). Originating in the dark industrial wastelands, The Kings of Frog Island were looking for a sound that combined heavy grooves with psychedelia and fuzz. The Kings of Frog Island draw from a common passion for cult movie soundtracks, mammoth riffs, heavy psych-rock and lyrics about love, life and eternal sleep. They were raised on a diet of Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu and early QOTSA. However, their musical influences also include the psychedelia of the 60s and the rock of the 70s. Their musical journey takes them across the scorching desert, past the mountains of Mars before they plunge into the burning sun. Welcome to the abyss.
