On the occasion of the release of the newly HD-scanned film on DVD and blu-ray the reconstructed soundtrack released for the first time - Until shortly before his death on May 17th 2020, the legendary film composer Peter Thomas still accompanied the reconstruction - Limited to 500 copies worldwide - 180 gr. Edition in bloodred vinyl, machine numbered with sticker and 4c-printed inner sleeve, Peter Thomas grew up in Berlin. In addition to studying classical music, his time as a pianist in numerous clubs in the four-sector city had a major impact on him, allowing him to get to know and appreciate the different musical tastes of the occupying powers. Via radio he came to television at the end of the 50s and shortly afterwards to the film industry and quickly became one of the most successful and busiest composers in the German-speaking world. Many legendary TV- and Movie-soundtracks such as "Raumpatrouille", "Jerry Cotton" and "Edgar Wallace" were written by him. In addition, he also wrote numerous music albums and promotional music. He remained active until his old age. About the film: The horror classic DIE SCHLANGENGRUBE UND DAS PENDEL (The Blood Demon) by Harald Reinl (Dr. Mabuse, Winnetou), based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, was released in 1967.
