Dave Kelly - is one of the founders of the legendary British The Blues Band, which with Maggie's Farm was one of the few blues bands to place a top ten hit and still sets blues standards in the British blues scene today. Dave Kelly is regarded as the leading slide guitarist in the British Isles and, in addition to the lead guitar in the Blues Band, also sets accents as a singer by alternating vocal parts with Paul Jones. Dave Kelly has been style-defining in the British Blues scene for over 45 years. In New York he jammed with Muddy Waters. He became a friend of Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker, in whose British touring bands he played in the 60s. It was Dave's big sister, the late Jo-Ann Kelly - now considered a legendary blues singer in Britain - who opened up his passion for blues and rock and roll. In 1967 he founded the John Dummer Blues Band. After three band albums Dave Kelly concentrated more on his solo career, numerous solo albums followed. In 1979, together with PAUL JONES and TOM McGuinness of Manfred Man, he founded the now legendary and still active The Blues Band. Especially in the successful 80's of the BLUES BAND, Dave Kelly always focused on his own projects and reflected his musical skills and talent again and again on the Folk Blues origins - solo concerts as in the Folk Blues tradition of the 40's and 50's. Especially these concerts document his incredible musical range, which includes country and beat songs in addition to the blues, but always with a blues accent. In the present double CD "Solo Performances ???86 to ???89" live recordings from this period were found by chance, viewed and sound-engineered. The result is a live CD, which captivates with its musical range, but also with its incomparable atmosphere. Dave Kelly sets musical free spaces in these solo concerts, which did not allow the band unity of the Blues Band. The spectrum ranges from Folk Blues Traditional to Rock'n'Roll, Beatsongs even to Country influences - but without losing the Blues.
