As one of the best country singers of his time, George Jones had many successes. Born in Texas in 1931 he grew up in poor circumstances. As an autodidact he taught himself to play the guitar. In the 20‘s of the 19th century he began to record his first songs. 1955 „Why Baby Why“ became his first hit. Further chart successes followed only a little later.
