Sekar Melati - Not Great Men (Live Version) OVERVIEW The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four is a double album of tracks written by Andy Gill and Gang of Four, all newly reinterpreted and recorded by artists whose own unique contributions to music were enriched by listening to Gang of Four. The album features songs from across Gang of Four’s 40-plus year career, each individually chosen by the artists who covered them. Andy Gill originally conceived of the album to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Entertainment! in 2019. His widow, Catherine Mayer, explains that this plan had already changed by the time of Andy’s death in 2020, after some artists chose tracks from different albums and periods. “Andy was massively excited about this project,” Mayer says. “It wasn’t of course conceived as a tribute album, but it’s comforting to me that he lived to see artists he hugely admired enthusiastically agreeing to participate, signalling that the admiration was mutual.” The album artwork has been created by English artist Damien Hirst, a long time friend of Andy’s. The album features artists from 7 different countries across 4 continents giving us a wide and diverse base to target. - Our marketing plan is focused on attracting... Tom invited Serj Tankian from System of a Down to provide vocals. - 3D & Nova Twins: 3D is the remix name for Robert Del Naja from Massive Attack. Nova Twins are a British rock duo who Andy recorded with for this new version. - Hotei: A huge superstar in his native Japan and best known for his song “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” made famous by its inclusion in Tarantino’s Kill Bill movie. Hotei collaborated with Andy on the track “Dead Souls” on the “What Happens Next” album and joined Gang of Four on stage in London.  - Gary Numan: Gang of Four supported Gary at his headline shows in Liverpool and in London in 2017 and 2018. Gary has performed Anthrax live on numerous occasions. - Gail Ann Dorsey: Bass player in Gang of Four in the early 1990s, and also well known for her live performance work with artists including David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz and the National amongst others. - Herbert Gr?nemeyer feat. Alex Silva: European superstar and Germany’s best selling artist. A personal friend, Herbert collaborated with Andy on the track “The Dying Rays” on the “What Happens Next” album (2015). Alex is Herbert’s producer and long time collaborator. - LoneLady: Up and coming electronic artist from Manchester signed to Ninja Tune who previously supported Gang of Four in London. -JJ Sterry: Lead singer of Gang of Four since 2013 and collaborated with Andy on some of the song writing. Also a solo artist with debut EP being released in 2021. - Dado Villa-Lobos: A friend of Andy’s, Dado is the bass player from legendary Brazilian band Legiao Urbana, a hugely successful and influential band in Brazil in the 80s. Dado has a successful solo career now in Brazil. - The Dandy Warhols: Remixed “What We All Want” for Gang of Four’s “Return the Gift” album (2005). This is a new recording of the same song. - Flea & John Frusciante: From the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Andy is well known as the producer of their first album in 1984, which was also Andy’s first production work outside of Gang of Four. - Hardcore Raver in Tears: A rock band from China. Andy was producing another band in China in 2014 and connected with the lead singer of HRIT then and they had discussed working together. - The Sounds: Swedish indie rock band who are very successful in the US and Europe. - Killing Joke: Andy produced the “Killing Joke” album in 2003 which featured Dave Grohl on drums. - Sekar Melati: A gamelan band from Japan. They perform in the Indonesian gamelan style, which is traditional ensemble music originating in the Indonesian archipelago. This was one of Andy’s favourite covers of a Gang of Four song, which he discovered on Youtube.
