Overall this album sets out to capture the musical journey taken, the inspirations and work as pioneers of Brit Funk. Hence, one of the lesser known songs of the Fatback Band, “Goin’ To See My Baby” is reworked and included on this definitive collection. Beggar & Co were formed by Kenny Wellington, “Breeze” McKreith and David Baptiste as an offshoot of the earlier band they founded, Light Of The World. The music represents the love of Jazz Funk and the influences that shaped the development of Brit Funk. Here they acknowledge influences that came from the great self contained bands of the genre such as Kool & The Gang, Fatback Band and others whose music had such a significant impact on the dancefloor. Included too are fresh takes of the crossover pop hits “Somebody Help Me Out” (remixed by Ernie McKone & Boogie Back), and “Time” (originally Light Of The World) written by Wellington, Baptiste & McKreith.
