Songwriter JP Rodr?guez (F?llakzoid bass player) teams up with Chicos de Nazca drummer and pro-skater Cucho Avenda?o and bassist M. Tellini to make a 3-piece band which brings minimalist songs with heavy bass, over-drived psych guitars and galloping rhythms. While F?llakzoid were starting their recording of II album under Sacred Bones Records, singer and bassist JP had been working parallel with the band Chicos de Nazca on their second recording at BYM headquarters, which was receiving plenty of the new scene of the Santiago Psychedelic underground by that time. Their record had more success that any of the ones released so far ('Fireride' released by Hozac) and Chicos made their debut in Europe on the summer of 2011. The set included an octopad instead of drums played by pro-skater Cucho Avenda?o and a shoegaze wall of sound by guitarist Francisco Cabala (Hell Gang). Although the success of F?llakzoid took JP away after that record, he continued doing music with the drummer Cucho under the alias of Special Cases. First record was a solo trip and was conceived under synth experimentations during the krautrock years of F?llakzoid, which presents lots of distorted organs, delayed guitars and instrumental passages. There was an aim to keep long jams under control and structure, in a drone dreamy ambient, but also an aim to make compositions that could express a different palette of colours and moods. By the second record, released on BYM, Cucho joined to make more rock-oriented songs and showing the songwriting of JP at a higher level. The exploration now moved to a post-punk joint that revered bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride and Spiritualized.
